A seemingly obvious answer that one expects may be a sign of one's negligence

Whenever I ask someone a question and he, instead of giving a simple answer, in turn will begin to ask me some questions and will present me with multiple outcomes that to me seem to be overcomplicated, and then I in turn will conclude that he’s being unreasonable and is overcomplicating things in a such simple question that could be answered in a straightforward short manner, there’s a thing that I may overlook:

He may be giving me all the options, possible outcomes, nuances not because he wants to overcomplicate things or look smarter than he really is, but because he’s the one who’s able to foresee those nuances thanks to his more extensive knowledge and experience in a domain. Therefore it may be me who’s negligible and may not even be aware of it.
